Community Corner

Rosemont Preserve

Dear Friends,

The Crescenta Valley Group of the Sierra Club is partnering with the Arroyos & Foothills Conservancy to save a small but crucial parcel of open space in La Crescenta from development. Located at the top of Rosemont Avenue, the 8-acre “Rosemont Preserve” would effectively double accessible green space in the town.  Our community needs to raise funds to purchase this parcel as open space from a developer.

Please join us for a tour of the property at 9 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 26, rain or shine, to explore the terrain and learn what we can do to help save it. Park at Two-Strike Park (Rosemont Ave., between Orange Ave. and Harmony Place), and we’ll walk to the property from there. The hike will be led by biologist Mickey Long, recently retired from his post at natural areas administrator for the L.A. County Department of Parks and Recreation.
