Crescenta Valley Skate Park - Public Design Workshop (1 of 3)

FROM SKATER DREAMS TO SKATE PARK REALITY:
Youth-led Crescenta Valley Skate Park Takes Shape with Public Design Workshops

Plans for a much-desired skate park in La Crescenta will take shape through a series of three community meetings, beginning on Wednesday, December 11.

Started as a grassroots project from a local teenager, the skate park idea is becoming a reality with tremendous support from residents, community groups and the County of Los Angeles Department of Parks and Recreation.

“The 10,000-square-foot concrete facility, located within Crescenta Valley Community Regional Park, is the brainchild of a teenage La Crescenta enthusiast who lobbied for years to see it built.
Cooper Iven, who graduated from Crescenta Valley High School this year, began pushing for the park in 2011 to give teens an alternative to skateboarding in commercial areas and other places where they didn’t always feel welcome.” (1)

Withers & Sandgren Landscape Architecture is the prime landscape architect, with Charles H. Strawter Design as custom skate park design specialists.

The workshop will include a presentation and opportunities to provide input.
