Verdugo Hills Hospital Receives Educational Grant

Nurses at VHH attended a leadership workshop made possible by the Mary Pinola/Crescenta Valley Educational Endowment.

recently received a $1,750 Leadership Grant made possible through a donation from the Mary Pinola/Crescenta Valley Educational Endowment.

The grant allowed 12 nurses from the hospital to participate in a two-day “Leadership Skills for the Registered Nurse” workshop, held Aug. 22 and 29 at VHH.

The workshop focused on developing and refining leadership skills and emotional intelligence in order to build a stronger nursing team through increased job satisfaction, productivity, and patient care. A representative of Flex Ed, a company that provides continuing education programs for healthcare workers, facilitated the workshop.

“The leadership workshop for our Registered Nurses is an outstanding opportunity for our nurse leaders to learn new skills and strategies in the clinical setting,” Andrea Terry, RN, MSN, Director of Education and Staff Development at VHH, said in a prepared statement.

“These nurses bring a passion and commitment for excellence in patient care as they serve as mentors and role models,'' she added.

Located between Montrose and La Cañada-Flintridge, Verdugo Hills hospital is a 158-bed independent, non-profit primary care facility providing emergency and surgical services, inpatient and outpatient care, and a family birthing center.
