Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy (FSHA) recently hosted its annual President’s Dinner to thank donors of the all-girls Catholic high school.

Alumnae, parents, neighbors and supporters joined Sister Carolyn McCormack, O.P., President of FSHA, for lively conversation and dinner. In her remarks, Sr. Carolyn touched on the wonderful accomplishments of the students, faculty and staff, and she also spoke about the lifelong impact FSHA has on young women’s lives.

“Each year, our young women return to tell stories of their adventures ‘out there’ beyond us,” she said. “Each year, we hear them tell us how much they miss Flintridge Sacred Heart, how nothing feels quite like it felt when they were here and how happy they are to be back—if for a moment. This is a signature moment for us: It happens regularly and it is proof that—whether, student, faculty, staff or parent—you never really leave the Hill.”

Tara Kawai-Daniels, FSHA’s valedictorian, spoke to the guests about all the opportunities the school has offered her during the last four years. With respect to the academic rigor at the school, Kawai-Daniels noted that “we are required to think critically and analytically, and although the work load can sometimes be overwhelming, it ultimately contributes to our intellectual curiosity, determination and commitment to academics.”

Graduating with a 4.5 GPA, Kawai-Daniels will be attending UCLA in the fall as the recipient of the Achievement Award and the Scholarship Recognition Award.

The night concluded with a brief time-lapse film of a “day in the life” of a Flintridge Sacred Heart student. As students rushed across the screen, the pride and love for FSHA could be felt throughout the room.

Donor, alumna and board member Juli Goodwin Roginson, class of 1987 explained, “As an alumna and a newly minted parent of an incoming freshman, my commitment to Flintridge Sacred Heart has never been stronger. My husband and I are thrilled that we have the opportunity to offer this experience to our daughter. Nothing could be more important to us, or more worthy of our support.”
