According to the La Cañada Flintridge City Council, the agenda for the special meeting was not posted soon enough; under state laws a city council special meeting needs to posted to the public on time before the meeting can take place.

The special meeting included a proposal to regulate stricter smoking restrictions in the city. The smoking restrictions ordinance would have gone through its second reading and possible adoption, but this has now been moved to the next council meeting on Aug. 5.

The proposed smoking restrictions would be an update to the city’s municipal code related to smoking in public areas. The amendments to the code include prohibiting smoking in unenclosed places of businesses and unenclosed places open to the public, the prohibitions, however, do not apply to smokers who smoke e-cigarettes.

The restrictions would have a big impact not only on LCF residents, but many people in the Crescenta Valley and beyond who visit LCF businesses regularly.
