Crime Blotter: Prowler Spotted and Residential Burglary

The following reports were taken from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, Crescenta Valley Station. Arrests do not indicate convictions.

Sabres Stolen in Residential Burglary

A female resident in the 4100 block of Chevy Chase Drive returned home at 11:45 a.m. Wednesday, July 27, after just a two hours out to discover the lock on the front door to her residence broken and the door open. The victim found numerous rooms of her home ransacked, with dresser and desk drawers emptied and closets turned upside down.

A Panasonic flat panel LCD TV, valued at $800, and three sabres were reported stolen. The value of two of the sabres, described as being Persian in origin, made of brass, and inlaid with precious stones, was not released in the incident report. The third sabre, made of carved wood and described as Samoan, reportedly holds a value of $600.

The victim also reported stolen from the master bedroom a gold and platinum watch, a 24 karat gold necklace, and 5 bracelets also of 24 karat gold all with values not released in the report. Deputies noted that rifles kept in that room's closet  had not been taken but had been removed from their cases.

A storage room in the house was also ransacked with the contents of a file cabinet and an unlocked safe dumped onto the floor. Due to the condition of the room at the time of the report, the vicitm could not determine what might be missing.

Deputies did recover fingerprints from the scene.

Prowler Fled

A 14-year-old female resident int the 4100 block of Wishing Hill Drive reported that while taking a shower the morning of Friday, July 29, she noticed the shadow of a person move past the frosted windows of the bathroom. The girl assumed it to be a pool service technician moving around in the backyard, however, a couple of minutes later she heard several loud noises coming from the home's garage.

After getting out of the shower and dressing, the girl exited the bathroom and found herself face to face with a man she did not know. According to the incident report, the alledged prowler said, "Oh man," turned, ran into the residence's garage, and out of sight.

Reportedly shaken, the girl called her mother, who then, along with the girl's father, arrived at the home approximately 45 minutes later. Deputies noted being called to the location after one of the parents checked the garage and found an access door forced open and broken.

The girl described the suspected prowler as a white male, approximately 35-45 years of age, about 5'10, 180 to 200 pounds, unshaven with "dirty blond" hair, wearing a white t-shirt, baggy green pants, and dark colored baseball cap.

Grand Theft from Driveway

Upon being dropped off at a residence in the 5300 block of Godbey Avenue at 5:30 p.m. Friday, July 29, three girls went inside the home, leaving their belongings unattended in the driveway. When the girls came outside ten minutes later they found an empty drieway and their belongings gone. Reported stolen were two small suitcases and a backpack all containing miscellaneous clothing, jewelery, and hair products. A Canon digital camera, two iPhones, and a red Razor scooter were also reportedly stolen. All together, the items reportedly are valued at $1,475.
