Burglaries Rise in Crescenta Valley Area

Home burglaries are an increasing problem in the Crescenta Valley area.

Capt. Bill Song of the Crescenta Valley Sheriff's Station told the Crescenta Valley Town Council on Thursday that eight home burglaries were reported in the department's patrol area in April, which is a significant jump.

"The majority of them have been by entry through the rear sliding door. So please, lock your residence," Song said. "If you have home alarms, please set those home alarms. It's very important. Larcenies are also up, larceny theft."

Patch reported on April 11 that the LASD believed a burglary team had targeted the Crescenta Valley because several recent break-ins have followed a similar pattern.

Song did report to the council that a significant arrest had occurred in a separate burglary case.

"We had a burglary that happened in April. Our detectives were working the case and they were able to get surveillance video and track down a suspect," Song said. "And they did find a suspect and the suspect turned out to be responsible for a number of burglaries in that area."

Residents are encouraged to call the Crescenta Valley Station at 818-248-3464 to report any suspicious activities.
