Foothill MWD Approves Budget Continuing to Contain Costs

The Foothill Municipal Water District (FMWD) Board of Directors on June 16, 2014 adopted its budget for fiscal year 2014-15 continuing to contain its costs for a fifth year and only passing through the Metropolitan Water District’s average increase of 1.5%.

The Board in considering the budget and water rates is continuing to move forward in its Capital Improvement Program (CIP) which includes rehabilitation of pipelines, rehabilitation of reservoirs and pumps.

“With the aging infrastructure that FMWD has, we need to make necessary repairs to avoid emergency shutdowns of our system due to pipeline leaks and other problems,” said Board President Richard Atwater.

Conservation continues to be a priority for the District as the State experiences unprecedented drought conditions.

“We continue to offer rebates for water conservation devices such as high efficiency toilets and replacement of turf with drought tolerant landscaping,” said General Manager Nina Jazmadarian.
