Berkshire Ave. and Woodleigh Ln. Road Closures (March 19, 2014)

The following lanes on Berkshire Avenue and Woodleigh Lane will be closed starting March 19, 2014 from 9 am until 3 pm:

  • Berkshire Ave. eastbound lane (toward Pasadena) at intersection of Berkshire Ave. and Woodleigh Ln.
  • Woodleigh Ln. complete road closure of 150 feet starting immediately south of intersection of Berkshire Ave. and Woodleigh Ln.

The closure is for the placement of a new 30,000 pound emergency standby diesel generator into a Foothill Municipal Water District (FMWD) pump station that delivers water to portions of La Cañada Flintridge and La Crescenta.

Three-way traffic will be maintained by traffic control personnel at Berkshire Ave. with the westbound outside lane remaining open.  Detour signs will also be placed at nearby residential streets and intersections to direct traffic.  Motorists are advised to proceed with caution while approaching the intersection of Berkshire Avenue and Woodleigh Lane and should avoid traveling along this route if at all possible.

Work crews will first be assembling a crane to move the replacement generator to FMWD’s Berkshire Pumping Station.  The new generator will then be lifted up above the trees and placed down below street level.

Once this generator is installed, the District will feel more comfortable knowing that demands can be met during an emergency and that the most stringent AQMD rules for particulate emissions are satisfied.  We apologize for any inconvenience the lane and road closures may cause.  For more information please visit http://www.fmwd.com/P1-P2-Generators.aspx or contact (818) 790-4036.

Foothill Municipal Water District provides imported water to Crescenta Valley Water District, La Cañada Irrigation District, Mesa Crest Water Company, Valley Water Company, Lincoln Avenue Water Company, Las Flores Water Company and Rubio Cañon Land & Water Association.  Kinneloa Irrigation District, another retail agency, takes no water from Foothill.
