Where is the Cheapest Gas in LCF?

If you're heading out this weekend and braving Carmageddon, you're going to need to gas. Lots of it.

If you live in La Cañada, you're probably not heading to the west side this weekend (and if you are, please post your secrets for beating Carmageddon).

As you've seen on freeway signs around the southland, I-405 will close Friday through Monday between the 10 and 101 freeways. For 53 hours, transportation folks have warned, traffic may snarl into a cartoonish stereotype of Los Angeles.

But, like the many who scoffed at the coming Rapture last May, perhaps you balk at the potential, unprecedented traffic congestion chugging your way. Perhaps you're going to brave the freeways and in that case, you're going to need gas.

Lots of it.

A jaunt around La Cañada gas stations show the Arco at 550 Foothill Blvd. to have the best price in town, at $3.73 per gallon for unleaded regular. That is the cash price, it is a bit more for credit. That's nearly 10 cents higher than the national average for unleaded regular, according to AAA's daily fuel gauge report.

One year ago the national average for unleaded regular was $2.71, the website reports. The current state average is higher than Arco's price at $3.78 per gallon.

The specific boundaries of the 405-Freeway closure are the 10 miles between the I-10 and U.S. 101 on the Northbound I-405 and the 4 miles between the U.S. 101 and the Getty Center Drive Ramps on the Southbound I-405.
