JPL to School Hollywood in NASA 101

Scientists to discuss life on other planets, space travel and a variety of topics during a day of panel discussions aimed at filmmakers.

today presented NASA 101: What Every Filmmaker should know about the Innovative World of NASA. 

In a day of panel discussions, scientists and astronauts were expected to talk about life on other planets, space travel, propulsion technologies, global climate change and robotics. 

According to a press release from David Weaver, associate administrator for communications at NASA headquarters in Washington, D.C., the film and television industries both inspire the public about space exploration and shape the view of future scientists, engineers and astronauts.

NASA has played a major role in films such as Apollo 13, Armageddon, Space Cowboys, Mission to Mars and WALL-E. Most recently NASA agency worked on Transformers: Dark of the Moon, which will be in theaters next year.
