With new ownership of the La Cañada Flintridge Town Center, people are talking about the sale, what it could mean for the city and whether the oft-maligned parking garage might be knocked down to make a more pedestrian friendly plaza.

The Olberz family, founders of , sold the shopping plaza to IDS Real Estate Group of Los Angeles for more than $40 million, which was first reported by the .

La Cañada Senior Planner Fred Buss said the new owners are interested in working with the to see events take place at Olberz Park in the hopes of increasing business.

The shopping center opened in 2008.
