CCLCF Executive Director Asked to Step Down

Megan Nordvedt had worked at the Community Center of La Cañada Flintridge for 12 years.

The board of directors for the Community Center has asked its executive director to step down.

Tom Reynolds, chairman of the board, told the La Cañada Valley Sun that the center needs someone who can focus on fundraising.

"We needed skill sets that were not present in our executive staff,'' Reynolds is quoted in the Valley Sun.

Megan Nordvedt has worked at the center for 12 years and served as executive director for the past four, the article states. Her termination, she told the Valley Sun, came as a shock.

“I have a lot of heart for that center and what it does for the community,'' she told the newspaper. "I feel like after being a part of that organization for 12 years I should have been a part of any shift in direction.”

The board of directors released the following press release this week:

Over the past 18 months, the Board of Directors in conjunction with an independent facilitator, has conducted in-depth studies of the Center’s facility needs, operations, and finances. The Board of Directors has determined to seek a change in leadership in the Executive Director position to better suit the newly defined goals and long-term strategic plan for the Center.

We stand squarely behind the current CCLCF Mission. Our work is intended to assure that the CCLCF continues far into the future.

The Executive Director position for the Center is currently posted.  More details of the hiring process will be available to you and the community as timelines are finalized.  We are committed to involving Center staff, program participants, and the community in this process.
