Join us as the Chancel Choir & Orchestra celebrate our great heritage of uniquely American hymns & spirituals! Featured will be a work based on the published poetry of James Weldon Johnson. “God’s Trombone” was inspired by sermons of African-American preachers, re-imagined as poetry and reverberating with the splendid eloquence of the spirituals. The concert also features familiar tunes including “When the Saints Go Marching In”, “Amazing Grace”, “When Jesus Wept”, “Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing” and many more. Come bathe in the splendor of our great American folk hymn and spiritual music heritage.
