Weather: Unearth Your Umbrella This Weekend

After weeks of fire-friendly low humidity, La Cañada, La Crescenta and Montrose should see showers beginning late Friday.

After weeks of dry weather you can expect the kind of rain storm that rinses your car and moistens your yard (and skin), yet leaves hillsides intact.

Of course, after weeks of single-digit humidity, folks should still watch out for areas of ponding on freeways and neighborhood streets, according to the National Weather Service.

The weather service's weekend forecast for the Crescenta and San Gabriel valleys:

Friday Night: Rain after 10pm. Low around 56 degrees. Southwest wind between 5 and 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent.

Saturday: Showers. Temperature rising to near 58 degrees by 11am, then falling to around 47 during the remainder of the day. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent.

Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 40 degrees. North northwest wind around 5 mph.

Sunday: Partly sunny, with a high near 59 degrees. North northeast wind around 5 mph becoming calm.
