Rose Queen: FSHA Teen Earns Crown

The Tournament of Roses Association named Drew Washington, 16, as the queen of the 123rd rose parade.

Drew Washington graduated from princess to queen Tuesday, as the Flintridge Sacred Heart senior earned the most coveted spot on the Royal Court.

The 16-year-old Tolog rose above some 1,000 Pasadena-area girls, to earn the title 2012 Rose Queen. Washington, of Pasadena, is the youngest member of the court with her 17th birthday still a month away.

Captain of her school's varsity volleyball and varsity track and field teams, Washington is active in the Student Ambassador Club, SADD, and is a member of the National Honor Society, California Scholarship Federation and Mu Alpha Theta, the honors math club. During the summer, she served as a camp volleyball coach. Washington plans to pursue a career in marketing or public relations.
