La Cañadans Flock to Watch David Sagal Jazz Quintet

Memorial Park filled up over the weekend for yet another "Music in the Park" summer series concert!

Lack of shade and a surplus of heat didn't deter La Cañadans from attending one of the city's favorite summer pastimes: music in the park!

On the eve of Independence Day, La Cañadans filled  with blankets, chairs, and tables as they spread out to enjoy David Sagal Jazz Quintet. Folks enjoyed everything from KFC to wine, Subway to meals brought from home. A group of young girls played cards on a beach blanket while their parents watched the musicians. Some families tossed frisbees, and others played with their dogs.

Attendee Colleen Liss loves "being able to see all the people I know, to socialize, have a picnic, a dance!" Sharon Fanning appreciates "the cool air and the people."

Some of the people, of course, were students from . Teens for Key Club were on hand as usual, selling root beer floats for $1.50 to raise funds for the Pediatric Trauma Program.

"Music in the Park" is happening every Sunday now through August 28. Next week on July 10, join the fun from 6-8 p.m. as "A Tribute to Elvis: Steve Roth" takes center stage.
