Juxtaposition: Burned Beauty (Photo of the Day)

Chilao Campground in the Angeles National Forest is one of myriad campgrounds recently re-opened.

The San Gabriel Mountains as seen through burned out shrubs from Chilao Campground in the Angeles National Forest. The campground, closed for the 22 months after the Station Fire, recently re-opened to the public. The U.S. Forest Service opened more than 98,000 acres of the forest, including more than 100 miles of trails, and several picnic areas and campgrounds.
