Flash Flood Warning in Effect for San Gabriel Mountains Through Friday Night

Slow-moving thunderstorms may form Friday afternoon over the Antelope Valley and the San Gabriel Mountains in Los Angeles and Ventura counties, forecasters said.

Downpours also may unleash debris flows, especially in areas denuded by wildfire, it said.
A flash flood watch will be in effect in the Antelope Valley and the San Gabriels through Friday. Thunderstorm activity will abate overnight but another round is likely in the same areas Saturday afternoon, according to the NWS.

The weather service forecast partly cloudy skies today and highs of 81 in Avalon; 84 at LAX; 85 in Newport Beach and on Mount Wilson; 92 in Long Beach, San Gabriel and downtown L.A.; 93 in Anaheim; 95 in Palmdale; 96 in Pasadena; 97 in Lancaster; 98 in Burbank; 101 in Saugus; and 103 in Woodland Hills.
