Comments of the Week: 'Perhaps You Should Charge for Breathing or Laughing'

Check out the best, funniest, strangest and most informative things our readers have to say.

We take pride in our work here at Patch and always strive to bring our readers interesting news. However, we must admit, sometimes the most interesting part of a great Patch story is the comments from readers that it sparks.

Here are some of the best, funniest, strangest and most informative comments from Patch stories around the Crescenta Valley Patch sites this past week:

One of our most talk about stories this week in CV was the story on Montrose Patch about the fess the owner of Critters has to pay to operate a few kiddie rides on the sidewalk. Our Comment of the Week goes to reader Susan Bowen McGregor, who summed up how a lot of folks felt about the fees in this comment out our Facebook page

Susan Bowen McGregor All I want to say is...Give me a break! Really? The fact that there are fees at all for kiddie rides makes me ill. And yes, my son went on those rides even if we did not buy anything at critters that day...was fun, made a little kids day. Perhaps you should charge for breathing or laughing...

Some other Facebook comments...

Tarik Trad I agree those "rides" are icons of Honolulu Blvd. Why should one small business carry the burden of paying the monthly fees? I think all the businesses or the association should share the cost of the kiddie rides.

Christa Chilton I think it's silly for the government to nickel and dime small businesses. Go pick on the huge corporations. Enforce fines on food stores that allow non-working animals into their stores. Fine people at the farmers market who think the "no animals allowed in the food areas" rule doesn't apply to them. Use those funds to pay for the petty permits for the small businesses! Just an idea...

Shelley Owen It is ridiculous to have a permit fee for "kiddie rides." What public liability/service/resources do these permit fees pay for? Another in a long line of reasons we left Glendale.

Our most popular stories in the CV this week were two stories about two boys that went missing after last being spotted in Montrose. Several of our readers said they saw the boys and posted comments on our Facebook page. The boys were eventually found at a friend's house in North Hollywood. Do you get breaking news alerts from Patch? Click here

Katie Emery Julie, I just showed this to Jon and he thinks he saw them on La Tuna Canyon this morning, too - just called the police.

Julie Taylor I saw them this morning at CV Park and have notified authorities. Hope they are found safe!

Beth Reeves Julie Taylor you saw them this morning? Where these are my nephews

Montrose-La Crescenta Patch Hi Julie Taylor, can you give more details? What did you see, where exactly did you see them? What were the boys doing?

Julie Taylor They were at CV Park near the dog park at 8AM. I saw them leaving the park, going through the parking lot, and then I saw them heading left on Honolulu. I thought it was unusual that they were not in school but figured maybe they were walking to school and were possibly running late.
