April Showers Dampen the Southland

The first of two storms has rolled into Southern California Wednesday, with the second wave of rain expected to hit Friday.

A pair of winter storms are moving into the Southland, with the first series of thunder-puntuated showers dampening the area Wednesday, according to National Weather Service forecasters.

Between a half inch and a full inch of rain is likely in the coastal plains of Los Angeles and Ventura counties from each storm. The NWS issued a winter weather advisory Wednesday, with mountain snow accumulations of one to two inches through the afternoon, and a storm total of four to eight inches above 6,000 feet.

Wednesday's storm is expected to bring winds out of the Southeast between 5 and 10 miles per hour. Gusts are expected to be 15 miles per hour.
