Check here for information on the run.

The following information is a press release from the Community Center of La Cañada Flintridge:

Nothing goes better with a delicious Thanksgiving dinner than pumpkin pie.  As the winners cross the finish line at the 20th annual Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot, they will get pumpkin pies! The Community Center wants the first runners to feel rewarded in the spirit of Thanksgiving.

The 5K Run/ Walk and Kids’ Mile has been a local tradition and a community favorite with families, athletes, and community supporters of all types for two decades.  The 20th annual Turkey Trot will take place at Memorial Park on Thanksgiving morning, November 28, and start at 8:30 a.m. followed by the Kids’ Mile at 9:30 a.m.

The presenting sponsor of the community-wide event is Ross Stores, Inc.  Huntington Hospital will distribute 1,500 backpacks for the adult runners along with other goodies.  Karen Knudsen, the hospital’s director of emergency services will also be on site to hand out first aid kits to 500 families.  Other sponsors include: the City of La Cañada Flintridge, Sport Chalet, NASA Services, Clif Bars, Current Electric, CV WeeklyLos Angeles Times, Re/Max Tri City Realtors, Allen Lund Company, Arnol Salon & Spa, Athens Services, Bob Smith Toyota, Caltech Employees Federal Credit Union, Cordoba Corporation, Dunn Edwards, Extreme Boot Camp, Grandpoint Bank, Inverselogic, Los Gringos Locos, McDonalds, Slater’s 50/50, TJMaxx, Von Der Ahe Interiors, Citizens Business Bank, Sprouts Farmers Market, and Smart & Final Charitable Foundation.

The most important part of the event is the Food Drive.  The Community Center partners with the Cresenta Valley Sheriff’s Station to collect food for families who struggle during the holidays.  Republic Services/Allied Waste provides the necessary collection bins for the food collection locations and moves all of the food to Bob Smith Toyota’s warehouse for sorting for the holidays.  Last year over 150 families were assisted.  Food can be dropped off at the Community Center during the month of November. Thanks for giving!
