The La Cañada Flintridge Coordinating Council has presented the Les Tupper Awards annually since 1969,
Name in honor of Les Tupper, a civic leader who cared deeply about education, our youth and the quality
of life in our town. The awards are meant to recognize individuals, organizations and local businesses for
outstanding service to the community.
Criteria for Nominees include a long-term and broad-based involvement in community services, beyond
job-related duties. Nominations cover the areas of education, youth activities, cultural pursuits, religious,
business and civic or social service. Nominations also include demonstrated leadership qualities and roles
in bringing positive recognition to themselves and the community.
The Student Service Award Nominees must possess outstanding personal attributes and be students in
grades 11 or 12. Nominees should be actively participating in service-related activities. Offices and
positions held in both school and community projects should be described.
More than one nomination by an organization or an individual is acceptable. The LCF Coordinating Council
requests accurate information. To assist the LCF Coordinating Council Board of Directors in the selection
process, nominations should be supported by how, when, where, what, why, how long, and how many
hours were volunteered. Also identifying those who benefited from the services is important.
Any questions should be directed to Carl Christensen, President (818) 952-1518 or Joel Smith, Chairman
(818) 790-6418.
