LCF COORDINATING COUNCIL ANNOUNCES 2014 LES TUPPER AWARDS RECIPIENTS

The Council is a nonprofit organization that serves as the coordinating body for the many local volunteer and service organizations of the community. In 1965, the Council awarded the first Community Action Awards to individuals who provided outstanding service to our community. In 1969, the Awards were renamed the Les Tupper Community Service Awards, in honor of Mr. Leslie (Les) S. Tupper, a LCF resident. Forty-five years later, the council continues to request nominations of qualified candidates for the awards.

Many candidates were considered from the nominations offered by community members. These nominees were judged for their leadership qualities and broad-based volunteer service to the community. Volunteerism, beyond job related duties for many of the candidates were in areas of education, youth activities, cultural and civic or social service. Each year the council is awed by the varied accomplishments to be considered.

Presented this year for a Les Tupper Service Award will be Tony Angelica, Susan Boyd, Stephen del Guercio, Harriet Hammons and the La Cañada Flintridge Community Scholarship Foundation. The Les Tupper Student Service Award will be presented to Kyla Bradley and receiving the Les Tupper Special Service award will be the La Cañada Flintridge Branch Library.
